Bohempia is a line of hemp clothing, including t-shirts, jeans, hoodies and shoes, 100% woven and dyed in the Czech Republic, made from a blend of French and Italian grown hemp, and cotton. Jeans are indigo-dyed with a special coating method that saves dye and reduces the exposure of skin to the dye. The clothing line, founded by former textile machine designer Tomáš Rohal, is just at its beginning, but there are future plans to include further items such as socks, gloves, belts, pants and more, and in increasing numbers of styles.
“Currently the only places where hemp textiles are made are China and US, but there are many issues including the quality. It’s also very far away. All of these issues are why I started my company. No one else is weaving, knitting and making hemp yarn in Europe. Hemp is thought of as something out of folklore, but I want to produce hemp clothing for everyday life.” – Tomáš Rohal, owner of Bohempia and Konopnictvi
