Bistro 8 came to Veverkova street several years ago when the now vibrant street was still “dead,” as the owners told us. It’s clear to us why they were successful. They offer delicious home-made food and drinks in a minimalistic but still homey space that doubles as a curated gallery of top-notch artwork from leading local artists. The owners try to source all food locally when possible, including vegetables and eggs delivered directly from a farm close to Prague. Coffee is from London-based direct trade roaster Climpson & Sons, and is delicious and lovingly presented. Different dishes are offered daily, from quiches and wraps to soups and mains, with vegetarian and gluten-free options and meat 1-2 times per week.
“When we started, nothing like this existed. We wanted to create somewhere to eat normally and have a good coffee. I’m not really a “green” person but I don’t think it’s necessary to buy Spanish potatoes. The fewer emissions the better.” – Petr Jakeš, co-owner
